I help creative women stop overthinking everything and start taking action in bite sized steps towards a clear vision and big dreams in their free time. I’ve also been known to assign naps and snacks as homework…because life can be full and let’s make it easier & more fun along the way.

What’s a Creative Instigator? To me, it’s part:

  • Fairy Godmother to grant you permission for things you may be afraid to even say out loud to your friends & family

  • Creative Cheerleader who believes in you 100%

  • Damn Good Listener of the spoken & unspoken

  • Problem Solver when Needed for brainstorming

  • Accountability Partner to kindly keep you on track

  • Mirror to reflect your teachings & a-ha moments right back atcha

  • Doing The Work Myself for many years and can identify with many parts of your journey to better understand

  • Connector and experienced consulting & art professional on a range of parts of business, life, social media, and projects

  • Instigator who asks What If…? to gently push you to believe you in yourself AS MUCH AS YOU BELIEVE IN OTHERS

  • Non-Judgmental kind person you can say things out loud to a real live human who will give you a safe space to do that.

  • Fun & Light but Takes YOU Seriously We can’t commit long term sustainably if it’s 100% toil and sacrifice.

  • Positive Person who is not naïve, but can sees the best in everyone to help you BELIEVE in the opportunities for YOURSELF.

  • Experienced I’ve been there. I’ve met authors, speakers, C-Suite, artists, influencers, and people I greatly admire. It made me realize that we are all human, everyone has their own struggle, and everyone is figuring it out as they go.

Really, I needed to finally lean in and take coaching more seriously and make it a part of my life. Why? Because for some reason, it LIGHTS ME UP, I am meant to do this, and it is personally fulfilling to see someone finally understand their value and gifts and feel empowered to OWN IT. I can’t change all the BIG problems in the world, but I can help one person at a time make BIG changes in their OWN WORLD. That is something remarkable! Also, I love people and enjoy connecting with others in authentic ways.

Okay, that’s a lot of words. Why am I qualified to help you on your own goals, projects and dreams - BIG or small?

I think it depends on what you value in my expertise! What would you like to see? Here’s some of my street cred if this helps.

Want some pictures to see some of these examples?

I know it is possible because I was able to do all of these cool things and make some big dreams and goals happen for myself in the past 7 years. Some intentional, some serendipitously, but mostly by doing the work, committing to action, and surrounding myself with people who believed in me and wanted to see me succeed.

  • Ran with a vague idea to interview 10 Artist Mothers on my blog

  • Could not and did not stop until I interviewed 70+ Artist Mothers (and other Parents)

  • Created a hashtag #carveouttimeforart hoping 500 people would tag a photo. (As of today, 962K have tagged photos using that)

  • Accidentally created a community of 33K artists on Instagram called @carveouttimeforart

  • Met a friend name Heather Kirtland when I interviewed her in 2015 that became a writing partner for a 7 year project to publish a book

  • Was rejected, ghosted, ignored, and told no many times!

  • Pitched to fulfill a goal to present at Alt Summit. Was accepted and spoke at Alt Summit with Heather in Palm Springs 2020

  • Met up with countless artist friends on the internet for in-person events, phone dates, Zoom panels, etc.

  • Partnered with Skillshare, TikTok, Simply Framed, The Art of Voting Early, Shop Canva, etc.

  • Published that book “The Motherhood of Art” in April 2020 with Schiffer Publishing

  • Created a national book tour pitch and had it all figured out - 2020 was gonna be our year after 7 years of toiling (ha!)

  • Cancelled a book tour in 2020 and came up with other ideas for virtual events and felt grateful.

  • Learned to make repeat patterns and licensed art for Minted, MB Greene, Boardlams, etc.

  • Pitched my work and had many badass rejections, but also some yeses!

  • Won some lovely awards and got some recognition!

  • Made new friends.

  • Made more art.

  • Featured in publications (books, gift guides, magazines, online, podcasts, etc)

  • Taught a class during the pandemic.

  • Coached a few people and loved it.

  • Had a 2nd baby.

  • Was asked to try out for a TV show and almost made it (all good!)

  • Had a ton of fun, and most of this felt excruciatingly slow in the meantime!

  • Co-hosted a podcast for a year and was a guest on 16 podcasts

  • Made a lot of art. Some bad, some I liked.

  • Had a flash sale to buy a painting from an artist I admire.

  • Got a new job that I love doing Workplace Strategy and being ASKED and empowered to use all I learned from Social Media and art and writing to add it to my consulting practice in Corporate America

Was it all easy? Nope. Was some of it easy and fun? Damn straight! Was some of it a slog? Oh good grief, YES!

Did I stay motivated all the time? There were ebbs and flows, but I keep my vision and know what is important to me personally and professionally and check in with myself. I also try to be nice to myself and give myself a break when I need it. Being a creative and an artist is a lifestyle and a lifelong pursuit, not a sprint.

Along the way I leaned that this magic blend of my personality, resilience from life lessons and loss, corporate roles, and my superpowers of being a connector and strategic thinker help me to help others when they want my help.

I am NOT here to solve all your problems, but I AM HERE to be a co-pilot in your journey who is will not judge you, who has your back, and is going to cheer you on 100% of the way and believe in you as much as I bet you believe in your friends.

How about hearing from people that are not me? Visit this link here, and see some of their cool artwork!

I am so grateful to the lovely people I’ve done coaching sessions or taught in the past few years. Here are some insightful things they have said that I think are really beneficial.

Bottom line, they had it in them already - I helped them to pull it out, untangle the threads, let go of what was no longer serving them, and GET TO THE CLEAR PATH. Then…most importantly…we prioritized what to focus on, created a strategy, broke it up into simple tasks and steps, so that they could start gaining traction instead of feeling ALL OVER THE PLACE.

That’s the magic. Oh, and being willing to show up and do the work. That’s it.

I’m going to hope you start believing in yourself the exact same way, because I know you can make amazing things happen — and it doesn’t have to be someone else’s version of success. Just your own. Yes, let’s say that one more time. Just. Your. Own.

If your version of success is Saturdays on the hammock eating Kit-Kats in a weird way where you remove the edges and eat the individual wafers and you have 4 long studio days during the week, I’m here for it.

You made it! Just like a good food blog…the recipe is at the bottom! (I kid….but thanks for being here).
